Sathi Community Guidelines & Safety
Effective date and last updated: 8 October 2026
Sathi is operated by SATHI (PTY) LTD, registration number 2026/292513/07. Our community brings together adults seeking genuine personal connections through shared values, heritage and identity. These guidelines apply to profiles, photos, introductions, messages, voice notes and any calling features available on Sathi. They form part of our Terms of Service.
1. Be genuine
- You must be 18 or older. Use one account for yourself, not for another person.
- Use your own recent photos and provide accurate age, background and relationship intentions. Do not impersonate anyone or use misleading, stolen or materially altered images.
- Do not submit forged identity documents, another person's ID or a misleading selfie.
- Demonstration profiles, where present, are examples for testing, not real members available for a relationship.
2. Treat people with respect
- No harassment, stalking, threats, coercion, bullying or hate speech, including discrimination based on religion, caste, heritage, language, race, gender, sexuality, disability or appearance.
- No sexual exploitation, sexually explicit profile content, unsolicited sexual messages or intimate images. Never share intimate material without consent.
- Respect a refusal, a block or an unmatch. Do not create another account or contact someone elsewhere to bypass their decision.
- Discuss beliefs and family expectations respectfully. Compatibility preferences are not permission to demean others.
- Never publish another person's private information or record or distribute a private conversation or call without their permission and any consent required by law.
3. No scams, advertising or solicitation
- Do not request money, airtime, gifts, cryptocurrency, banking information, passwords or verification codes from members.
- Do not promote investments, recruitment schemes, businesses, paid dating services or commercial opportunities.
- Do not send malicious links, spam or automated messages, or attempt to access accounts or systems without permission.
- Never exploit a minor. Content involving child sexual abuse or exploitation is prohibited and may be referred to the authorities.
4. Optional identity verification
ID verification is optional for ordinary matching and text messaging with an active membership. Both members must be approved as verified before using verification-gated voice messaging or calling features, where available. You may politely ask a match to verify before continuing, but you must not pressure them, insult them or demand that they send their ID directly to you.
A verified badge means Sathi has approved an identity-document review. It is not a criminal-background check, endorsement, guarantee of honesty or promise of safety. Being unverified does not prove a person is a scammer. Stay alert with every member, verified or not.
5. Reporting and moderation
Use the report option on a profile or message to tell us about misconduct. Reporting hides the reported member from your discovery queue while the report is considered. Blocking is separate and prevents further interaction through Sathi. Do not submit deliberately false or retaliatory reports.
Authorised reviewers may examine the reported profile, relevant messages and other information reasonably needed to investigate. Depending on the circumstances, we may remove content, issue a warning, restrict access or suspend or ban an account. Serious threats, exploitation or suspected crime may be referred to the relevant authorities when lawful. We do not promise a particular investigation outcome or response time.
You may ask for a moderation decision to be reviewed by emailing admin@sathi.co.za with the relevant details. Do not include another member's ID document or unnecessary sensitive information.
6. Meeting safely
- Chat in Sathi first. Share contact details only when you feel comfortable.
- Consider a voice or video conversation before meeting, where available, without assuming it proves someone is trustworthy.
- Meet in a busy public place, tell someone you trust where you are going and arrange your own transport.
- Never send money or reveal banking details, passwords or one-time codes to a match.
- Do not send identity documents to another member. Submit verification only through Sathi's verification process.
- Stop, report and block if a person pressures you, threatens you or asks for money. Keep relevant evidence where safe and lawful.
- In an emergency or where there is an immediate threat, contact local emergency services or the South African Police Service. Sathi is not an emergency-response service.
7. Contact and changes
We may update these guidelines to respond to safety risks or legal changes. Material changes will be communicated through the service or your account email, with the updated date shown here.
